Privacy
What this site does and does not do with your data, in plain language.
What the site does not do
No account, no forms, no database. This site is a handful of files served as they are written.
No analytics, no tracking scripts, no advertising pixels. Nothing here builds a profile of you, and no decision about you is made automatically. There is no fingerprinting and no behavioural scoring. You visit, you read, you leave - that is it.
Interface icons are drawn inline as SVG, and nothing is fetched from a badge service. The front page loads its fonts from Google Fonts; this page uses only your system fonts, so it makes no third-party requests at all.
Strictly Necessary (always on) Required
Security and traffic management, provided by Cloudflare. Keeps the site safe from abuse. Cannot be disabled.
These are set automatically and are strictly necessary to provide the service, so consent is not required for them.
Functional (your choice) Optional
vg-theme remembers dark or light mode. SameSite=Lax;
Secure; expires 1 year. It is stored only after you press the theme
button, stays on your device, and is never sent anywhere. Clearing
your browser data removes it.
On-device numbers on the front page
Battery level and time are read from your own device by your own browser and shown on the page only. They are never stored and never sent anywhere. The IP address is shown blurred as •••.•••.•••.••• and the page never asks for the real one. Your location is used only if you grant permission in your browser.
The copy button
The button beside my email address puts that address on your clipboard when you press it. It only ever writes; it never reads what was already there.
Links to other sites
Links here go to GitHub, LinkedIn and Instagram, to the two companies named on the front page, and on the credits page to the people and licences behind the few things on this site I did not make myself. Following one takes you to someone else's site, where their rules apply and not mine. Every link is set so your browser does not tell them which page you arrived from, and nothing here records that you clicked.
Server logs
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like every web host, their servers record ordinary request data when a page is served: your IP address, the address of the page, the time, and which browser asked for it. I use this only to keep the site running and to protect it from abuse, which is my legitimate interest in doing so. I do not use it to identify individual visitors, and I do not combine it with anything else.
Cloudflare processes this on my behalf and keeps it for a limited period under their own retention rules, which are set out in the Cloudflare privacy policy. Cloudflare is a company outside the EEA, and transfers are covered by the safeguards described in that policy.
If you email me
My address is on the contact section because I would like to hear from you. If you write, I keep your message so I can answer it and pick the conversation up later. My email runs on Gmail, so Google handles it on my behalf. I do not add your address to any list and I do not pass it to anyone.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you can ask me for a copy of any personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, ask me to restrict what I do with it, object to my using it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to victorguminski3@gmail.com and I will answer within a month.
If you think I have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet. You are also free to complain to the authority in the country where you live.
Who is responsible
Victor Guminski, Norway. victorguminski3@gmail.com. I am one person running a personal site, so there is no data protection officer, and none is required.
